| Deep Tissue Massage |
 |

Deep tissue massage is a technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibres of the muscle, tendons and fascia. Deep tissue treatments can also help to break up and eliminate scar tissue.
Your therapist may concentrate on specific areas and this may cause some soreness during or after the session. If the massage is done correctly however, you should feel better within a day or two. Water helps the body to eliminate toxins so it is important to always drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage.
Your treatment will incorporate a structural assessment and correction if necessary. Correction of misalignment can be done by working with the muscles and incorporating gentle stretches. If your structure has been out of position for a long period of time it will take a few treatments to re-educate the muscles to hold the body correctly.
